Local tax in the Zell-Gerlos region, Zillertal Arena
The visitor's tax is used in the Zell-Gerlos region, Zillertal Arena for infrastructural facilities, for the tourism offer, for events and many other projects. The maintenance of the hiking, walking & biking trails and cross-country ski trails is also a major component and rest areas with benches or rubbish bins are also our responsibility.
The tourism association acts as an important financing partner for infrastructure facilities such as playgrounds, adventure worlds, via ferratas, high ropes courses, themed trails, the outdoor swimming pool, the ice rink and the tennis courts/halls. This enables the region's diverse range of leisure activities to be maintained and continuously developed. In addition, the tourism association supports numerous initiatives relating to regionality, culture and tradition as well as sustainability. For example, events such as the Zillertal farmers' market, the Gauder Fest, the Zell Christmas market and the ski show are organised with the budget from the visitor's tax.
Furthermore, in close cooperation with the municipalities and other tourism associations in the Zillertal, investments are being made in forward-looking mobility and energy concepts and, as part of this, the public transport concept is being expanded.
Other core tasks of the tourism association include providing local information to guests by means of personal advice or brochures, supporting landlords and promoting the tourist destination.
Who is liable to pay the tax?
All overnight stays in Tyrol are subject to the tax:
- accommodation establishments
- in leisure residences that are made available to changing guests.
Overnight stays by persons up to the age of 15 are not subject to the tax. The obligation to pay the tax begins with the first and ends with the last overnight stay.
