Beyond the pistes
in a winter paradise

Experience winter in Krimml with a difference. Because the snowy months have so much more to offer than “just” skiing and snowboarding. More and more visitors are discovering the great options for a fulfilling holiday even away from the slopes.  Ski touring, snowshoeing, carriage rides or cross-country skiing – Krimml has just what you are looking for even if you prefer the valleys to the summits.

Krimml Waterfalls

The Krimml Waterfalls – the largest waterfalls in Europe are not only a breathtaking natural spectacle in summer, but also show their most beautiful and romantic side in winter. Floodlit every Wednesday until 9.30 p.m. Admire this exceptional natural spectacle.

TIP: Romantic torchlight hike to Europe’s largest waterfalls every Wednesday
We highly recommend taking one of the torchlight hikes to the waterfall.  In the warm glow of the flickering fire, the area around the waterfall looks like an enchanted winter forest and the reflected snow creates incredibly beautiful mood lighting.  Welcomed by a group of local brass musicians at the snow-covered waterfall, the atmosphere is finally perfect.

  • Meeting place: 8.30 p.m. at the music pavilion in Krimml (28.12.2022 - 22.03.2023)

Horse-drawn carriage rides

Fly through the white winter wonderland on a horse-drawn carriage, surrounded by sparkling peaks, forests blanketed in deep snow and romantic villages. Snug and warm under the cosy blankets, enjoy this special time with your loved ones as you listen to the tinkle of the bells.

Winter hike with the waterfall alpacas

Alpacas quickly win the hearts of everyone with their curious nature. After meeting them and saying Hello, we hike together with the cute, fluffy trekking companions through the snowy winter landscape to the famous Krimml Waterfalls. We respond to the peace and serenity alpacas radiate – our heart rate drops and we automatically become calmer. After a short rest we walk back to the starting point.
