Discover a typical dish from our region: “Pinzgauer Kaspressknödel”. Today’s hike takes us past six alpine farms – the first is Bergeralm in Nadernachtal. We ramble over lush mountain pastures with flowers and herbs. It’s no wonder the cows’ milk is so tasty and nutritious in summer. At Hieburgalm, we sample a glass of “Gletscherwasser”. We also take a short but fascinating tour of the historical alpine farm, and fill up our bottles with crystal clear water from one of the many streams.

We continue to Bacheralm, where the farmer is already waiting for us with her homemade “Kaspressknödeln” savoury dumplings made with Pinzgauer Almkäse cheese. A shot of homemade spirits tops off the perfect snack
– what more could you want! We are now full of energy for our hike towards the valley mouth.
