In the middle of the Zillertal Arena lies the mountain restaurant Latschenalm.
In summer, the hut can be reached by the Isskogel gondola and then a 15-minute walk, or directly from Gerlos through the Krummbachtal or the Gerlos Wiesenweg.
In winter, it is the ideal stopover on wonderful skiing days and is located in a dreamlike spot in the ski area directly above the Isskogel mountain station.
The Latschenalm is known for its huge playground, which extends not only around the hut but also up to the mountain station of the gondola.
In addition to the vast playground, a cozy hiking trail, away from the road, leads past the Alm chapel up to Lake Latschensee (about 20 min from the mountain station). On this route, various projects are visualized, including “Legends from our Region,” “Stations of the Cross,” and
“Meditation Path.” Right by the hut, there is also a small petting zoo where one can
observe rabbits, chickens, and goats.
The rustic restaurant invites families to enjoy cozy days at the Alm. While the children let off steam in the playground and explore the mountain world, the adults can relax on the huge sun terrace and enjoy the breathtaking panorama. The view extends over the beautiful Durlaßboden reservoir to the Pinzgau.
In addition to a variety of Zillertal specialties, there are also homemade sweet temptations that one should definitely indulge in. The family-run business places great importance on regionality and also on supporting local farmers from Gerlos. Milk, butter, yogurt, meat, and much more comes from the region.
