The hike starts from the Gasthof Finkau in the Wildgerlostal valley. In the first section, you can see an impressive natural spectacle – the Leitenkammerklamm natural monument. Shortly after, you pass the rustic Trissl Alm. The path continues through the Wildgerlostal – the westernmost valley of the Hohe Tauern National Park. From the material cableway, the hiking trail continues and becomes a bit steeper. You climb up through the gorge secured with ropes. Here, the path leads onto the glacier-formed lateral moraine of 1850. At an information board, you can clearly see the glacier's changes. Now the hut is already in sight. Beautifully situated at the lower Gerlossee is the Zittauer Hut.
