The Wald Parish Church

An indulgence certificate from the Wald parish archive dating back to 1395 indicates that the church already existed at that time. It is situated on the sunny slope of the mountain, facing east.
The parish church in Wald is dedicated to Saint Nicholas and the 14 Holy Helpers. The church is 28 m long, 12 m wide, and the tower has a height of 42 m. In 1751, lightning struck the church, and the vault had to be supported with two columns. In 1753, a new Baroque high altar was built, and in 1798, the women's altar was added with a carved Madonna and above it, the Holy Trinity. The pulpit was created in Renaissance style around 1663, as was the gallery railing, which was adorned with the 14 Holy Helpers. The choir depicts the 12 apostles and was painted by Rattensperger in 1836. An organ was added to the church in 1837. The main nave features the legend of Saint Nicholas, the patron saint of the church.
