Starting point is Sonnalm (1300m). From there go up to the Gerlosstein (1650m). Above the summit Gerlossteinbahn the path leads you to the Heimjöchl (1984m). At the second ground you have to follow the right path which leads you to the summit of the Gerlossteinwand (2166m) – there is a cross on the summit of the mountain. The descent goes down to the Gerlossteinbahn and further on to Sonnalm.

The starting point is the Sonnalm (1300m). From there you follow the signed trail to the mountain restaurant “Gerlosstein” (1650m). Keep going on to the cable car. Near by the cable car station you can find a sign Heimjöchl – Kolmhaus – Schwarzachtal usw..

Walk above the station, where you come to an agriculturalroad. These road leads to the transmitter.  But you turn right to the path which is well-marked. At the second ground you can see a lot of signs. Follow the right signed-trail to “Gerlosstein – Kotahorn-Alm”. Stay on the left path which leads you on a wide curve up to the path which levels out.

Now the trail is rising slightly up to the summit (2166m). At this part there is a sign to the “Kotahorn-Alm”. Shortly you have reached the summit, where you have a wonderful view. The descent goes up through a very steep and stony path back to the mountain-restaurant Gerlosstein. From here you can walk up to the Sonnalm. The second variant is: You can follow the signs “Kotahorn-Alm”. From there, there is a well-marked path down to Sonnalm.
