The Almabtrieb in Gerlos has a long tradition and is one of the highlights in autumn every year. You can experience the Zillertal tradition up close. Because there will be an "Almabtrieb as it used to be", in which the cows will be bunched up and proudly return from the Alm on September 26, 2025 and can be seen along the Gerlos road.
For 30 years, the Almabtrieb in Gerlos has been a must-see highlight of the Zillertal festival season!
Join us for a truly unforgettable alpine celebration featuring festively decorated cattle, the thrilling Schnalzer whip-cracking group, and the proud Noriker horses of the Taxenbach Carriage Club. Don’t miss the vintage tractors from Piesendorf or the traditional packhorse teams (Samer) from Niedernsill. The Gallzein Plattler will wow the crowd with their energetic Schuhplattler performances, and the Buch rural youth group will charm with their historic tractor display. Adding to the alpine flair are the Alphordinga Türkenfeld, traveling all the way from Lake Ammersee in Bavaria to share their authentic sounds.
Starting at 9:00 AM, the main street of Gerlos transforms into a vibrant marketplace with over 30 regional exhibitors offering handcrafted goods, local delicacies, and more. And of course, there’s no shortage of culinary delights! Indulge in traditional Melchermuas, Zillertaler Krapfen, and authentic Swiss raclette—or take a seat at one of our welcoming local restaurants and soak up the festive atmosphere with live entertainment and regional flair.
Come celebrate tradition, taste, and Tyrolean hospitality at its finest!
