Starting from the Zittauer Hut, you walk past the lower Gerlossee towards the upper Gerlossee. Shortly before reaching the Rosskarscharte, you can turn left and climb about 100 meters of elevation to Rosskopf. From the summit, you have a magnificent view of the High Tauern. A short descent to the Rosskarscharte and then onward into the Rosskar. The Rosskarlacke is a good place to take a break. Then continue down to the Keesboden, where the climb starts again. After about 200 meters of ascent, you reach the Richter Hut, which offers a good place to rest. Now there is one last steep climb to the Windbachscharte. From here, a gentle path leads downhill towards the Eissee. If you want to visit it, a short climb is required. Afterwards, the descent goes through the glacier-shaped Windbach valley past the Windbachalm and through a stone pine forest. At the Ausserunlaß Alm, the path leads into the Krimmler Ache valley, from where you reach the historic Krimmler Tauernhaus.
