Mountain tour: Rosenalm - Kreuzjoch - Nr. 10Beautiful mountain tour on the Kreuzjoch with a wonderful pnoramic view of the impressive mountain range.
You can get to the starting point of the somewhat challenging mountain tour by taking the Rosenalmbahn (cable car). On hiking trail no. 10, first head left on an agricultural road for a short while, travelling out of the valley until you reach the first cattle grid. Turn right at the crossroads and follow the slightly ascending hiking trail no. 10 until you reach Grindlalm. Head left at the fork in the road onto the agricultural road until you reach the Kreuzjochhütte. You can enjoy the magnificent view of the surrounding Zillertal Alps while eating a reinvigorating snack or treading water in the mountain stream. Then continue to follow the agricultural road towards the valley until you reach Kreuzjoch Alm. Just before the mountain station of the Hanser X-PRESS, you will find the hiking trail on the left, which leads over the ridge. After crossing the ski slope you will
come to another hiking trail, which leads along the ridge of Übergangsjochs until you reach the summit of Kreuzjoch. From Übergangsjoch, you will need to proceed across very rocky terrain. Sure-footedness and a good head for heights are essential with the slight balancing act of the last 20 minutes until you reach Kreuzjoch. You will reach the highest summit of the Kitzbühl Alps and be rewarded with a magnificent view of the Zillertal and Pinzgau mountain landscape. Hike back along the same path until you reach the mountain station of the Rosenalmbahn cable car. It is also possible to take the black route and hiking trail no. 1 to the mountain station of the Isskogel cable car and get off in Gerlos.
Short circular hike: Rosenalm - Gründlalm - Rosenalm
At the top station of the Rosenalmbahn cable car turn right, go past the Bergrestaurant Rosenalm (no summer operation), where the trail slowly climbs across the ski slope and through a pine and spruce forest. After about half an hour you meet a road. Turn left and you will quickly reach Gründlalm (trail junction). If you take the right trail, you will reach the old Kreuzjochhütte in about half an hour. If you take the left you will reach again the starting point Rosenalm.
Large round trip: Rosenalm - Karspitz (2.135 m) - Schmankerlhütte Kreuzwiesenalm - RosenalmChallenging family hike on the wonderful Karspitz viewing summit in the Kreuzjoch district - also suitable for kids in good physical condition.
You can easily reach the starting point of the 4.5 hour circular hike with the Rosenalmbahn cable car in Zell am Ziller. At the mountain station, turn left onto hiking trail no. 11 until you reach Kreuzjoch Alm pasture, which is only open in the winter. Take a right past the pasture onto an agricultural road, which leads to a narrower footpath on the summit of the Karspitz. At the summit, you will catch a glimpse of the wonderful view over the surrounding mountains and the small, idyllic Pfannsee. Continue to follow hiking trail no. 11 downwards
until you reach the fork in the road at Törljoch, where you will be able to see the beautifully situated Rosssee for the first time. Passing the lake on the right you will come to the Karhütten, where you will end up on an agricultural road again, which you should follow until you get to the last bend. Then turn right over a small stream onto Schmankerlweg in the direction of Kreuzwiesenalm. There is a small fork in the road after the hut, which leads to a tranquil, narrow footpath through the forest until you get back to the starting point. Alternatively, you can also continue along the agricultural road for the last section of the trail until you get to Rosenalm. Of course, with a long hiking tour, you can’t miss out on original Zillertal refreshments!
Arena panoramic hikeWonderful panoramic trail with spectacular views of the Zillertal and Tux alps
The starting point for the 5 hour panoramic trail can be easily reached using the Isskogelbahn at Gerlos up the mountain. After a short ascent to Latschenalm (1,950 m) you will continue on hiking trail no. 9 for a short while upwards to Kellneralm (1,879 m) and Innerertensalm. From there, the panoramic trail continues up and down through large pastures above the tree line. Enjoy the breathtaking view of the Gerlossteinwand and the Zillertal Alps with the impressive glacier landscape. The trail continues over Gerlostalalm and Schlagangeraste to Außerertensalm. Hiking trail no. 9 changes to path no. 11, the Schmankerlweg, which leads past the Kreuzwiesenalm (1,884 m). It is worth having a break here with a snack and a great view on the terrace of the Schmankerlhütte. Then continue to hike to the mountain station of the Rosenalm cable car (1,774 m) in Zell am Ziller, with which you can comfortably bring your tour to an end. The hiking bus brings you back to Gerlos. The hike can also be done in the opposite direction. Tip: use the combined ticket for hikers in the Zillertal Arena for your mountain and valley ascents and descents in Gerlos and Zell!
Astachhof (Gerlosberg)A hiking tour of 2 hours along the Gerlostal valley with a beautiful view over the mountains. Also suitable for families with pushchairs. Getting to the starting point is possible by bus (Regiotaxi) or car. Lightweight hiking shoes are recommended.
By car or bus (Regiotaxi from the train station Zell am Ziller) to the station Gerlosberg - stop Erlach/Almhof. Along the asphalted road which is hardly used and mostly flat, then switchbacks to Astachhof. The sunny terrace and a cozy lounge invite you to stop. Some mountain farms with extremely steep meadows, some without road connections line the walking route. Return via the same path to the starting point.
Enzianhof (Zell - Gerlosberg)A walk of 2 hours along the beautifull Gerlosberg Kreuzweg (stations of the cross) to the Alpengasthof Enzianhof with Schnaps distillery and bacon smokehouse. Return by Regiotaxi possible. Hiking shoes recommended.
From the Gasthof Waldheim walk along the street until the bridge. After passing the bridge walk 300 m uphill to Klammegg. Then you follow the Kreuzweg (stations of the cross) on the right hand side until the little chapel Gerlosberg and along the winding trail you reach the Alpengasthof Enzianhof with Schnaps distillery and bacon smokehouse. Return by Regiotaxi possible.
Circular hike: Krauspromenade (Rohrberg)A walking tour of 1.5 hours through the woods and along the river.

After about30 minutes on theshadyforest path you reach the Gerlosbergstrasse, there you turn right (down the valley) until you reach the Gerlosberg bridge.Afterthe bridge turn rightthroughthe Kaiserstadt and walk along theright side of the Gerlosbach river back to the startingpoint.
Stations of the Cross Gerlosberg
From the Gasthof Waldheim left over the Gerlosbachbrücke (bridge). Follow the road 300 m up to Klammegg then right upwards on the Stations of the Cross till the Gerlosberg chapel. Over the same path back to the starting point.
