Anreise in die Zillertal Arena

Directions to Wald/Königsleiten

Wald/Königsleiten is in the state of Salzburg at the Tyrolean border. The Salzburg, Innsbruck and Munich airports are all 1.5 to 2.5 hours away by car. If traveling by car, you can take the Zillertal/Gerlos Pass to Königsleiten and/or Wald. There is another possible route via Mittersill/Pass Thurn or Zell am See. Wald has its own train station and buses run between Wald and Königsleiten. If you take the train to Zell am Ziller through the Zillertal, there are also buses to Königsleiten.

Travelling by car
from the north (DE, NL, BE, DK, PL, etc.)
Via the A 12 from Munich until the exit for Kufstein Süd (St- Johann-Kitzbühel Pass Thurn) and continue via the B 165 to Wald/Königsleiten.


or


Via Achensee (Achen Pass) and Zillertal, continue on the B 169 to Zell am Ziller and the B 165 Hainzenberg and Gerlos Pass to Wald/Königsleiten.
from the east (AT, CZ, SK, HU, etc.)
Via the A 10 Tauern motorway to Werfen, continue on the B 311 to Schwarzach, Zell am See, then on the B 168 to Mittersill and continue on the B 165 to Wald/Königsleiten.
from the west, southwest (IT, CH, FR etc.)
Motorway A12 towards Salzburg – take the Zillertal exit, continue on the B 169 to Zell am Ziller and the B165 Hainzenberg and Gerlos Pass to Wald/Königsleiten.

 

WINTER toll information:


Gerlos Alpine Road: All holidaymakers coming from Wald/Königsleiten, Krimml receive a free 8-day ticket for the toll road with their guest pass at the toll station. Guests for the day pay the car toll (€9) and can have this refunded with the receipt when buying a lift ticket. Skiers who already have a ski pass (chip card) for the Zillertal Arena can use the automatic lane at the tolling station for free. When arriving, it is possible to pass the toll station for free with the accommodation’s booking confirmation!


When the ski season ends, the Gerlos High Alpine Road is subject to the toll again and the toll must be paid for all vehicles.

We recommend that our guests choose the environmentally friendly option of travelling by rail.

Money-saving tip


Try searching for the same journey on the Deutsche Bahn, on the Austrian national rail service or the Swiss Schweizer Bahn websites, and there may be a difference in the prices, so you could get yourself a bargain.

It is even possible to bag a so-called 'Sparpreis' reduced ticket online up to three days before your journey. The earlier you book the better! There are also many more offers to be found if you travel during the week in comparison to weekend travel.

Tips for families:


Young children ride for FREE up to one day before their sixth birthday with the Austrian Rail ÖBB standard ticket, children from six to fifteen years of age travel half price. Young children do not have to be listed on the ticket.
